Flaming Coconut

While we were in Penang the Hindus also had a very important religious holiday and one place where it was celebrated was a busy street corner. There a large display was erected where a man handed out flaming coconuts and instructed people to walk around the stand a few times and then throw the coconut into a metal bin to extinguish the flame.

Mentre eravamo a Penang, anche per gli Induisti era tempo di festività religiose e un rituale si svolgeva in un angolo di strada affollato. Lì vi era un chiosco ambulante in cui un uomo distribuiva noci di cocco in fiamme e mostrava alla gente come camminare attorno al chiosco tenendo in mano la noce di cocco per poi lanciarla in un contenitore di metallo e far spegnere la fiamma.
